We’ve spent a lot of time in the past few days riding here:
Lake Louisa State Park. I love riding here because of these lovely bike lanes and minimal traffic. Plus, the 15-kilometer loops of road remind me very much of the even-shorter loops that we used to ride over and over during our training camps with Sutto on the farm in Sao Carlos, Brasil.
This morning I got a little taste of ITU-style smashfest here with some fast and furious bike loops. Riding so close together at relatively high speeds puts me far enough out of my bike-handling comfort zone that I can hardly even notice when my legs hurt!
However, today Coach apparently wanted to see if dying animal noises happened on the bike as well; I told him they did, but apparently he needed to see for himself . . . Soooo while riding with me and ordering harder, harder, harder, the mission was accomplished. Ouch!
The other added bonus—insert sarcasm here—of working with Coach in person is that you never know what is coming next . . . So while I thought I was leaving it all on the road during my “last” interval, he decided to tack on a bonus one after our adventures here:
Yep, that’s the gator-infested lake in the park. Actually we did not see any gators, thankfully. I do want to see one—just not before, during, or after I am swimming, thank you very much. But anyways, it was cold and a bit rainy this morning, and the red-brown water was super choppy and a bit cold (I stole these pics off of the park website—the water looked much more uninviting today!) . . . Jumping in there was about the last thing that any of us felt like doing, I think.
But, again, I am loving the strength-in-numbers thing that we have going on here with the squad. It is such a nice treat, even if just for a short visit this time. I even found some legs on the bike before we got in the water and tiny ITU people made me as if I had never swum before! Love it.

I want to ride on that road, the tarmac looks so smoooooth. Love the turtle sign
Don’t worry about the dying animal noises, I used to make great big Hulk noises in my bodybuilding days. Leg day was always a killer and I used to let out a massive ARGGGGHHHH with each squat, the guys in my gym were used to it.
