I am about to get to work on my race report, but now that I am finally back online, I just wanted to check in and thank everyone for so many nice cheers yesterday via twitter, email, Facebook , and all!
After I crossed here, I spent wayyyyy too much time in drug testing. I needed food badly but there was a lot of waiting around, and ultimately I ended up in the fetal position on the floor of the drug testing room.
That was lovely. When it was all said and done, I got wheeled into a taxi back to my hotel and managed to drag myself downstairs to get some food into me about three hours after I had finished racing; that is three hours too long in my book! Ouch.
This pretty much sums up my night last night.
A more scenic bit of the aftermath.
I wish I could bring these home to my mom—so beautiful!
Highlight of this morning: a long walk and a triple-shot flat white here. Yessss.
I am feeling okay about yesterday. I had a crack and it wasn’t enough for the win but given where I was just a few weeks ago, it was alright. Full dets soon in my race report! Thanks again for following along.

Congratulations, Hillary! So fun to follow you and wake up to see a job well done!! Take it easy! You are the best!
Stinky race recovery! They could have fed you!!!! SOSOOOOO proud of you. You have been through so much with your back, and just seeing you DIG and not give up that lead and put yourself out front time and time again was so awesome. You displayed so much strength. Love it so much! XOXOXOXO
the sad thing is they do such a good job here that i sure they had amazing recovery food, but since we got dragged off to testing and aren’t really supposed to eat before getting tested, i didn’t get to appreciate any of it! boo.
At least you didn’t end up in the medical tent, shame they couldn’t have given you some carb drink at least, I hope you made up for it the day after
so this is “fetal on a couch”…ouch. No partying…:(
If I can argue that successfully, I could probably have argued a few bites of food for ya!
oh drug testing…the whole thing is rather fascinating to me- one of my thesis topics was high performance sport and doping, but played devil’s advocate and argued that drug testing takes away the basic human rights of a person as stated in the Charter.
