I’ve been meaning to post a link to my little superstar Jennifer’s report on her breakthrough race at Ironman Texas. So I thought while I was at it, I would send a list of good reads your way . . . Enjoy!
“As I walked I began that mental preparation that is so necessary before such a big undertaking. I told myself “Jennifer, today you will have to suffer. How much so? Well that depends. But you are stronger than you realize. You can endure. You WILL endure.”
“I actually skipped my graduation ceremony to head to a World Cup (where I promptly had my ass handed to me, but it was too late; I was committed). And so I was unfamiliar with the world of luxuries I was passing up such as owning a car and health insurance.”
“At the end of the day, you knew at the start line that 100 miles wasn’t going to feel good. So expecting that when you’re 80 miles in is slightly delusional.”
“I realized within about 30 yards that showing up to pace in a 100 is a lot like showing up to a party where your friends are already drunk.”
**Andi’s pacer is her BFF and 100-mile superstar, former HURT 100 Champ, Hannah Roberts. Lots of other great stuff on her blog as well.
