I have round two of “Brasil by the Numbers” for you today; 3 races in 4 weeks means you will be pretty darn sick of verbose race reports by the end of this, so I will keep this one short and sweet. So without further ado, I give you…..

Ironman Brasil 2012 by the Numbers:
54: Number of ironman finish lines that I have now crossed
6: Number of ironman finish lines I have crossed in Florianopolis
3: Number of weeks since my last ironman (Australia)
6: Days ‘til my next race after Ironman Brasil (Honu 70.3)
1: Number of times I have won the swim in Floripa (this year, finally!!!)

6: Number of hours of fun that I had during Sunday’s race. I felt great and in control on the swim and bike, and truly enjoyed racing. I came off the bike within 3 minutes of the lead and was very pleased with this given the tough women’s field in Floripa this year. And then . . .
3:44: Number of hours and minutes of not-fun during Sunday’s run up and down on the spot
0: Number of steps that I walked during the marathon (though the time may indicate otherwise)
6: Number of PowerBar Double Latte PowerGels consumed during the marathon
8-10: Approximate number of pounds lighter that I am now than when I was running my best marathons off the bike. Go figure.
50: Number of minutes for my 2.4-mile swim
5:04: Number of hours and minutes for my 112-mile bike
![120527__ironman__1466-2[1]](http://hillarybiscay.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/120527__ironman__1466-21-332x500.jpg)
6: Number of the finish position that I “earned” by failing to execute the third of 3 disciplines well. I ended up 6th in a time of 9:45.
1/2: Amount of my bike nutrition that I found remaining in my bottle post-race.
6: Number of years I have raced pro and thus why I should know better.
2: Number of big positive takeaways from my race here this year: the swim and the bike. Both were the best, performance-wise, that I have ever had at this race. Now I just need to get my run back to a level that’s nothing that I haven’t done before many times—shouldn’t be asking too much, but it’s amazing how tough it is to get all 3 disciplines right on the same day. But there is no room on the pro podium these days for anything less, so I am gonna have to figure it out!
7: Days in paradise at Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows coming up!

10: Number of sponsors I want to thank for supporting me in this journey: PowerBar, TYR, Recovery Pump, Rudy Project, Zipp, ISM, Vega, FSA, CycleOps, and the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows.

Double latte, yeah, my brand too. Been using for years with good results. I have been following your exploits for a while and must say that I admire your resilence. You are like the energizer bunny of Ironman. I really don’t know how you do it.
my 3 favourite numbers were the rockstar 50 & 5:04 and 7 days in paradise! 1 is the number of suitcases it would take to sneak me back to paradise with you.
you could just drop me off at Basik and I could live in the treehouse.
Well, you killed the swim and bike, and still ran every step of a hard marathon — AND you looked gorgeous doing it. Do not forget the importance of looking hot. See you on the Big Island Friday, bring those run legs and let’s see what they have stored up for 13.1. xo
What does your coach think it will take to get run going?
Didn’t you use to eat red meat and no disk wheel, when you were running faster?
all the best in Honu.
good question about coach. i look forward to discussing this w/him!
as for the red meat , you are right. but that (animals) is not a sacrifice i am willing to make any longer. hoping that is not a deal-breaker.
YOU ARE AMAZING and your season has just begun!!!
Congrats Hillary. The first 2/3rds was so good. Aside from not eating. I know the feeling from IMOZ. You will crack it and nail the next one. Enjoy your rest in H.
Congrats! Those are some awesome swim and bike numbers!
Could you elaborate on the weight thing? Why “go figure”?
Well done!
Another IM in the books.
I like that “by the numbers” race report very much. Just the important facts and lessons learned by racing. Swim, bike, run – we all know that. But the numbers are very interesting.
Have fun on BI and keep prctice running with the GCM
Clem
Congrats on winning the swim and running the entire marathon. Your resolve to never walk is one of the reasons I follow and cheer for you…not easy, ever, especially when you’ve left half your nutrition on the bike, but way to stick with it and finish!
Good luck at Honu, say hi to your girl Allison (who won one of your kit giveaways earlier this year because she is going to U of A) while you’re there. She’s a local and will be racing her first 70.3!
And the most coveted number of them all, for me, 0 steps walked on the marathon. I still haven’t been able to do that in an Ironman
Good luck for Honu. I’m loving all the racing reports
Best of luck at your next race!!! ONwards and UPwards…:)
sorry the run did not go as planned but I think you are super freaking awesome so…ROCK ON HILLS!!! awesome swim bike
Your consistency in putting in top-10 finishes in spite of racing so much is so impressive! Thanks for the always honest race report!
Performance and weight have always baffled me–some thrive on being light as a feather, while others are at their best heavier/more muscular. I’m soo glad to hear you won’t compromise on your mostly-vegan-no-suffering principles!!! (you can tell I’m also vegan)
I’m interested to hear what your coach has to say about the run and race weight factor, please do share!
