Smashed.

ML sunset june 4

Sunset from our room last night. This never gets old, but I have to admit that I couldn’t even get out of bed to get a better view from our balcony—at 7PM or whatever it was!

If you were wondering how I feel after a race combination like I just did: I am looking for that bus that hit me overnight on Saturday. Yesterday I spent 2+ hours lying on a chaise lounge by the pool here at the Mauna Lani doing nothing. And eating french fries. You know I am tired when I can a) lie by a pool for hours and b) not get bored while doing so.

So that’s your status update. It is nothing alarming or surprising, really. I’ve done combinations like this before and they always result in that hit-by-a-bus sensation at the least, and usually a bit of illness too. I am fighting a sore throat as we speak and I think I may just win! Otherwise lots of rest is on tap this week and I will be right again in a week or two. It was all worth it.

Dear Hillary,
Take care of you during this “rest” time after this Honu 70.3 ;-) You’re an incredible women and triathlete too ! You know, you and Maik inspires me during my trainings before my first 70.3 (the date is not scheduled…). Take your time to live with Maik at the Mauna Lany and on Big Island ;-) Here in Lower Normandy (France), the weather is not good, temperatures are low since a few days. Today was a swim day, tomorrow a new bike session followed by running sessions ;-) . Live your dreams on Big Island !

Philippe

Alyssa, coach is very confused/smashed right now. Just let her ride it out and she’ll be back to her normal veggie smoothie-loving self soon enough…uhh, I think.

I must say you’ve picked a great recovery location. It’s probably about 120 degrees in Tucson. French fries? Try the conch fritters.
