I’ve been meaning to write this post for a couple of weeks now, but time keeps getting away from me! GCM and I are under a new regime—which is what this post is about—and it hasn’t left much time for anything else.
A couple weeks back, apparently, this blog post and a couple of twitter conversations had multiple people emailing me on the same day inquiring as to whether I was pregnant.
Or maybe I look it?! Hopefully not.
Anyhow, it’s quite the contrary. Just two and a half weeks ago, the GCM and I signed our lives over to Coach Siri Lindley. You see, Siri, runs an in-person professional triathlon training-squad situation based out of Santa Monica; and as I learned while in Sutto’s squad, being coached in-person like this really does mean saying goodbye to one’s own schedule, etc.
This was an unanticipated twist to our summer and career plans, but a very, very much-needed and welcome one! We did not come to LA intending to change our whole coaching structure, but since we were fortunate enough to do some swimming with Siri’s squad for our first couple weeks here, we were able to see first-hand how her program works; and we quickly realized that the squad environment and Siri’s level of dedication to her athletes were things from which we could really benefit.
Since then, the GCM and I have been happy as . . . And things have turned around pretty quickly for us here. This means that we are fired up about new race plans, which I will post this weekend!
In the meantime, I wanted to share with you a few pics from our adventures with our new coach . . . Trainer &treadmill smashfests (+ the obligatory puppy-wrangling that goes along with them—yes Moo comes to trainer sessions with us) and ocean swims. How beautiful was this week’s swim?!?
And one more thing: for those who are interested, this is an awesome article that came out recently about Coach Siri and our new program.

Can you imagine the child you two will have? That’ll be one tough cookie.
I feel like I’m on your wavelength this summer, just added a couple of entries to my race calendar and feeling the same newish excitement about racing…
So excited for both of you!!! Love the pics!!
Couldn’t be happier for you both- I know you will thrive in a group situation. Maik too. Did you feel your ears burning last night around 11 pm? Dawn and I were chatting….

That is such awesome news, Hillary!!!!! I am so pumped for you and the GCM, and for Siri, she is gaining some amazing athletes and people to her squad! I look forward to hearing what is next for you both.
Happy training!
Cheers,
T
Congrats on the exciting change! It does seem as though you and M will both really thrive in that kind of a squad environment – not for everyone, but if you’re the right sort, it’s the best possible scenario.
Awesome news Hillary, congrats!
OMG – sooo funny that the word is you were pregnant! Congrats on working with Siri – sounds awesome!!!
