Still standing! Did a lot of quality time up and down these streets yesterday during the four-loop run. There isn’t really a flat stretch of ground in this town, except the two blocks we ran out of transition to start the loops!
I just wanted to check in quickly before 30 hours of travel back to Tucson . . . . actually maybe more than that. I would prefer not to calculate exactly! Thank you all for the virtual cheers and messages before and after part two of the September double! I should have plenty of time en route home to write up some thoughts.
Long story short: I am happy to have two more top –five finishes on the list, and especially happy to have finished with another solid run. It is really nice to feel like my old self during the marathon and feel strong from start to finish. It has been a long, long while since I have been able to do the whole run feeling the way I did the past two weekends and that is not something that I take for granted anymore!
Oddly enough, today I am hardly sore. The body feels even better than it did last Monday. Perhaps I should find a race next weekend . . .
Or not! The double usually hits me like a ton of bricks 5-7 days afterwards and I will then feel absolutely terrible. So it is convenient that it’s now time for a little break of sorts.

Awesome!! Great run. I missed seeing you at Madison. You had finished a few minutes ahead of me hitting the marathon. My first complete Ironman! 2010, I missed the bike cut off due to being under trained mentally and on the bike and some chain issues at mile 70. This year 4x100s made this ride go by so much easier. I am amazed at your determination and your athletic ability!! You are an inspiration to so many. Great job on both Ironmans!!
