One item of business before my SMASH in Kona report: I’ve had some coaching inquiries via facebook message which brought to my attention that my contact form on my site has not been working. I have updated my coaching page with my email: email@example.com. Please direct all coaching inquiries here. We will be finalizing our TeamHPB roster for 2014 in the next month or so and will also now have two coaches onboard working with me! More details soon, but in the meantime, you know where to contact me.
One year ago, when I returned home from Kona, SMASH’s first shipment of Orange Crush tri and cycling kits had landed in Tucson. I got off the plane and got to working packing and shipping pre-orders. So it was pretty nuts last week to be in the expo in Kona with SMASH; it was our first big expo, and to be there with a whole line of clothes and lots of people wearing them was a huge moment for us.
We even released two new kits for the occasion: Carbon Flyer (above) and Lava Berry (below).
One of the most amazing parts of SMASH’s Kona adventures was watching SMASH spread across the roads of the Big Island. We loved meeting so many new athletes from all over the world and having them return to the booth for a chat in their new gear, or sending others to see us because they had noticed SMASH kits on the road and wanted some for themselves.
Plus, with all of our new friends, we had tons of people to follow on race day and a bunch who even raced in their new kits—SMASH actually had two age group podium finishers last Saturday! Those ladies did indeed smash it.
Our other big arrival in Kona was a new venture for us and one we are especially proud of: our Meredith Dress. It is named after the best-dressed bada$$ that we know—the BFF, obviously! That’s her in the middle, with Michele and me.
And we are so grateful for our SMASH fans! Have I mentioned that yet?! Lexi might be our cutest SMASH fan ever, though, I must say . . . Yes, kiddos CAN wear XS tri gear!
Mini Biscuit also made the trip. Fresh off of 6 hardcore months in trial, having finished just the week before, she came over to the island and was made to work her tail off on SMASH 24/7—best sister ever! This is our long-lost sister pic with Alyssa, since she and I are fairly certain that we are twins, separated by seven years (to the day!).
Our SMASH ironman cheering section was another highlight of my week—we were so fired up for smashfest spectating that this was us at 4AM last Saturday yes!!
Thank you to everyone who has made our first year of SMASH and our first SMASH Kona adventure exceed our wildest expectations. Here’s to many more to come!
