22 April 08: Tri for the Cure Arizona

I could not have asked for a better pick-me-up after a disappointing ironman than last weekend’s Tri for the Cure activities. The weekend in Scottsdale was a whirlwind, and was packed with excitement–most of if generated by the 900 women who were involved in Sunday’s races. It was a privilege to meet tons of amazing women, many of them first-timers, and feel their enthusiasm for our sport. I love watching women becoming empowered by sport, and with many of the women I came to know over the weekend, I could watch this transformation in progress. 17 April 08: Arizona Races

Before I report on last weekend’s race, I wanted to give you a couple of other quick updates. First, we have finally updated the photos in the gallery on my main site. I hope to add a few more shortly, as my Splits59 kit for Ironman Arizona was my favorite one yet, and needs to be pictured there!:)
Second, as a reminder, this weekend is the Tri for the Cure Arizona (www.triforthecureaz.com). I am very much looking forward to a whole weekend of fun. Tomorrow at 6PM I will be giving a talk and answering questions, and Saturday I will be at the Splits59 booth at the expo all day–please come say hello! 10 April 08: Heading to Tempe

I just wanted to check in quickly before my last night of sleep in my own bed (which I am very much appreciating, as this is my first week at home since last year). Tomorrow morning I will make the drive to Tempe for Ironman Arizona. This has become an annual pilgrimage for me, but now that I have made Tucson my home, this year’s trip is unbelievably easy.
I want to thank everyone for their well wishes for this weekend’s event, and to let you all know that I am feeling fit and very much looking forward to the race.
