8 June 10: Brasil Photo Extravaganza

Ironman awards! Brasil always has some serious trophies. My carry-on keeps getting heavier.

This is where we stayed in Rio–up in the forest on a mountaintop. It was cold but beautiful.

There are natural juice places on every corner–sort of like Jamba Juice but less added junk. I got a mix of passionfruit and a fruit I had never even seen before, and it was very tasty.

We checked out lots of awesome vista points . . . Below you will get the up-close view of the top of that peak in the distance on the left. The man is enclosed in scaffolding at the moment, though.

We saw lots of different favelas (shanty towns) from a distance but Fernanda wouldn’t let us drive through.

From her house, we took a little boat across this lake to the beach!

She modeled one of her Carnaval outfits for us–only Fernanda could pull this off . . .

and Lukey tried on the headdress.

Look, Coach: no running! I am on a running ban. I had grand visions of experiencing Fernanda’s 30-kilometer mountain run adventure to the Cristo but Coach negged that idea. So instead we did a trek through the forest roads and went searching for monkeys on the way.

I’ve seen my share of monkeys during my travels in Asia, but these were of a different sort, so I was pretty excited. One even grabbed a piece of bread out of my hand.

Even though the man was under construction, his size was impressive (Can you spot the tiny workmen in the photo?), and the view from up there was worth the trip . . .

Thank you, Fernanda, for an amazing visit!!

You and GCM lived it up in Brazil. What beautiful pictures. And NOTE: KSwiss is getting full value every time the little black dress with the logo is on the platform. How cute is that?

I think that “man” is a statue of Jesus. Ha ha ha. I agree with Greyhoud; you look like you just came-off the tennis court.
