Yesterday once again all of the athletes in town seemed to gather in one place–this time in Waikoloa for the BikeWorks 10k run. I took my long run to a new locale for the day and ran around while the speedsters did a hot, windy, and long “10 kilometer” run. However, not racing didn’t keep me from inadvertently coming dressed to match those who were–I just needed some smaller shorts, apparently! On my left there is the 10k women’s champ, Ms. Wee, whom only a couple boys could beat. One of these was the GCM, who won the men’s race by two minutes, and after winning the Kona Half Marathon a couple weeks ago seems to have made a name for himself around here as quite the runner.

After the kids collected their prizes, we headed straight out to the beautiful beach there for a little loosen-up swim . . .

And I found some swimming friends!

We swam til we found a beach that we had all to ourselves.

Ian (who is from my hometown) caught me up on all of the goings-on from there over the past five years, I think . . . I was playing, “Whatever happened to . . .?”

The crew! The blondes you may nor recognize are local swimmer-friend Wendy and visiting pole-vaulter (love me some pole-vaulter abs–always one of my fave parts of Olympic spectating and now we have our own set here for inspiration!) Amy.

I get pretty excited about random wildlife sightings so I think half my pictures from yesterday were of the honu . . . We found some more out sunbaking.

Then the crazy kids tried to climb for coconuts . . . We had to remind Bree that she has some Kona-qualifying to do before she should be engaging in such risky antics!

And of course my day ended in the gym, on the treadmill . . . But as usual, I will spare you those details and stick to the pretty ones for today!
